Builders Arms Hotel |
The Builders Arms Hotel is a landmark public house on Gertrude Street, Fitzroy. Opening in 1853, it now houses a Public Bar, Bistro, private dining spaces and courtyard. The Builders Arms Hotel is a favourite with Fitzroy locals; a meeting place for drinks and meals.
The Public Bar offers 12 rotating draught beers, and a considered wine list of vintages from near and far. Bar snacks and counter meals are available all day for those wishing to settle in.
The Bistro offers the same seasonal menu as the Public Bar but within the dining room of the pub and accompanied by relaxed table service. Open for dinner Wednesday to Sunday and for lunch Friday to Sunday, reservations in the Bistro are welcome.
A crackling, flaming wood-fired rotisserie in the courtyard fires up everyday, offering daily specials from 5:00pm - ranging from dry-aged duck to porchetta or cauliflower.
This iconic public house is under the stewardship of chef Andrew McConnell and publican Anthony Hammond. It has seen many incarnations over the years - a live music venue, a guesthouse and even a bordello.
