The Astronomical Society of Victoria Inc. based in Melbourne was founded in 1922 for people interested in astronomy.
For over 50 years the ASV has played a major role in the care of buildings and facilities at the Old Melbourne Observatory. The ASV has a 20"telescope, other facilities and weekly activities at its Society Rooms in Burwood. It owns a property called the Leon Mow Dark Sky Site north of Melbourne, which has a pristine sky for deep sky observing.
The ASV Library is situated at the Old Melbourne Observatory near the cafe. Parking is available for library users in the car park adjacent to the Great Melbourne Telescope House.
