Apollo Inn | Cocktail Bar by Gimlet

Our new cocktail bar, Apollo Inn, is now open a few doors down from Gimlet on Flinders Lane. It's our ode to the ageless art of the cocktail, the bar, the bartender and the drinker.

Apollo Inn is located on the ground floor of 165 Flinders Lane, a 1920s neo-renaissance-style building on the corner of Flinders and Hosier Lanes. Taking its cues from the timeless cocktail bars of Europe, Apollo Inn is an inviting space with a menu of snacks and small dishes to accompany its drinks.

Signature cocktails include the Lucien Gaudin featuring gin, Campari, dry vermouth and our house Marnier, and the Picon Bière, a blend of house-made amaro and crisp French lager. On the menu, beef carpaccio and raw tuna with sobrasada sit alongside a selection of local and imported cheeses, with crème caramel to finish.

We look forward to welcoming you in.

In 1844 one of Melbourne's first public houses, the Apollo Inn, opened on the corner of Flinders Lane & Russell St, where Gimlet now sits. Today, Apollo Inn is our ode to the ageless art of the cocktail, the bar, the bartender and the drinker.

GIMLET BAR MELBOURNE - APOLLO INN

In 1844, one of Melbourne's first public houses, the Apollo Inn, opened on the corner of Flinders Lane and Russell Street - the site on which Gimlet at Cavendish House resides today. A few doors down on the corner of Hosier Lane, the new Apollo Inn now stands. Hidden behind leather doors within the 1920s neo-renaissance-style building, Apollo Inn is an intimate space that takes its cues from the timeless cocktail bars of Europe.

The first standalone cocktail bar from Andrew McConnell and Jo McGann, Apollo Inn joins Gimlet at Cavendish House in the Trader House family of venues. Trader House includes some of Melbourne's most iconic and critically acclaimed establishments; they embody the values and culinary culture of Melbourne.

A considered cocktail list pairs old-world classics with new-world sensibility, all overseen by Bar Manager Lachlan Bentley. Like every great cocktail bar, the mark of quality will reside in the martini glass, with four styles to choose from; Dry, Dirty, Gibson, and Café. Apollo Inn's menu complements its refined atmosphere, offering a selection of drinking food from classic beef carpaccio to shellfish served over ice.

Whether visiting for a special occasion or seeking a sophisticated cocktail experience, the Apollo Inn offers a memorable journey into the world of timeless mixology.
