Alinta and the Jazz Emperors make their debut at The Count's with a night of joyful soul-charged jazz irresistible rhythm and world-class musicianship.
Presiding over a kingdom of feel-good swing and fiery improvisation this powerhouse five-piece brings together some of Australia's most accomplished jazz artists. Fronted by the magnetic Alinta Chidzey - acclaimed vocalist songwriter and star of Moulin Rouge! The Musical Chicago and West Side Story - the Emperors' perform original songs from their debut album 'I Got You' and rearranged standards inspired by Ella Coltrane and Gregory Porter.
Led by tenor saxophonist Remco Keijzer (Michael BubléYou Am I The Bamboos) the band features an all-star lineup: Mark Fitzgibbon (Lee Kunitz Ronnie Scott) on piano Ben Hanlon on double bass (Melbourne Symphony Orchestra James Morrison) and Darryn Farrugia on drums (Tom Jones B.B. King). Together they serve up original tunes from their album I Got You alongside reimagined standards - all delivered with swagger humour and explosive energy.
