Cherry Bar

Contrary to news reports, the Cherry Bar in AC/DC Lane was not destroyed by fire on June 5, 2008. The bars owner confirmed on ABC radio that the basement bar suffered severe water damage from a fire that centred mainly in the top floor and roof.

Optimistically, he hoped the bar would be back open for business Friday week coincidently Friday 13th, 2008. We wish Cherry Bar good luck.

Founded by Cosmic Psychos drummer Bill Walsh in 2000, Cherry is an authentic rock bar, showcasing some of the greatest rock and soul music from the past half a century. Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher was so taken with bar during the band's 2002 Australian tour, he made an offer to purchase it.

2007 rock'n'roll block party

Melbourne's Cherry Bar has announced the first round of bands performing at CHERRY ROCK 007, the inaugural one-day rock'n'roll block party happening on Sunday May 6 in AC/DC Lane.

It's already shaping up as a humungous loud, down and dirty lineup to get your inner rock pig grunting!

Rocket Science headline CHERRY ROCK 007, their first gig in nigh on two years.

They're joined by Blood Duster, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, My Disco, Shooting At Unarmed Men, The Devil Rock Four, The Five Venoms, Dynamo, Double Agents, Digger & the Pussycats, The Stabs, The Pink Fits plus more to be announced.
