Yanada House

Yanada House is a dementia specific Day Centre, which offers support to people with memory loss and their carers.

Yanada offers a program of social and recreational activities, which are planned to meet individual needs and abilities. It helps individuals to develop a sense of identity and self worth. It offers the opportunity to have an enjoyable and meaningful day in a safe environment.

It offers a range of activities, which meet the needs of people of different cultural backgrounds.

Yanada House offers a monthly Carer Support Group meeting with education sessions and peer support for Carers.

Available Services
Yanada House offers programmed activities six days a week.

The Program is held in a house, which has an enclosed garden area where people attending the Centre can walk around and enjoy involvement in garden activities. We also organise outings throughout the year. Activities are planned with participant's involvement taking into consideration individual abilities.

Day Centre staff are professionally trained in the care of people with memory loss.

When are Services Available?

Yanada House offers two multicultural programs on Wednesdays and Thursdays, for people from non-English speaking backgrounds.

On Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays we offer activities programs for people from English speaking backgrounds.

The Saturday program provides activities for people of both English and non-English speaking backgrounds.

Who is eligible?

The Program is open to people who live in the City of Darebin who have an irreversible cause of memory loss. An assessment by the Aged Care Assessment Service (ACAS) is required to establish that the person has a diagnosis of dementia.
