* World Billiards Championship 2019 *
For the first time in 85 years, Melbourne will play the world stage to the World Billiards Championships. The World Billiards Championship is one of the most prestigious events in cue sports. Attracting the world's top ten players including reigning champion Sourav Kothari of India will make Melbourne's Royal Automobile Club of Victoria the focus of global cue sports from October 6 -12. Also making the trip to Melbourne is The John Roberts Trophy, reportedly the oldest surviving world title trophy (first awarded 1870), older than the trophies for Wimbledon and the British Open. 2019 World Open and World Billiards Championship Sun 6 Oct - Mon 7 Oct 2019 (World Open) Tue 8 Oct - Sat 12 Oct 2019 (World Billiards Championship) Venue: Billiards Room, City Club Costs: $60 for premium reserved seat ($30 for Club members, $40 for Service/ABSC members) $30 for standard reserved seat ($15 for Club members, $20 for Service/ABSC members) $250 for gold season pass, which includes: Premium reserved seat for every session of the World Open and the World Championship World Billiards Championship souvenir program Entry to closing ceremony functions after both the World Open and the World Championship The historic and prestigious World Billiards Championship, first contested in 1870, was last played in Melbourne in 1934, when Australian billiards legend Walter Lindrum defended his title against England's Joe Davis. 85 years later, the Championship will be played in Australia for only the third time. Limited number of early-release tickets for the 2019 World Billiards Championship, including the World Open, will be on sale from July 1. Both premium and standard reserved seatings are available in this release.
