We-Akon Dilinja - a mourning reflection event at Alfred Square
Australia Day to dawn with a Morning of Mourning
The City of Port Phillip will stage the one-hour event at 6am on Sunday. The council's citizenship ceremony starts at St Kilda Town Hall at 11am.
On Sunday 26 January, the City of Port Phillip is supporting an Australia Day event that brings the whole community together to commemorate and celebrate the rich diverse culture of the First People of this land.
The ceremony will recognise the journey and experience of the Yaluk-ut Weelam clan of the Boon Wurrung people and language group. The service will be held at Alfred Square, St Kilda, from 6 am and is expected to run for approximately one hour.
This ceremony is part of the City of Port Phillip's 2020 Australia Day celebrations and is in collaboration with the Boonwurrung Land and Sea Council.
We-Akon Dilinja is presented in harmony with our Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony, held at St Kilda Town Hall from 11 am.
All members of the community are welcome to attend.
