Summer Movie Nights at Fed Square Give your feet and wallet a rest in the days leading up to Christmas at Federation Square. The plaza in the city's heart is screening free festive flicks on the big digital façade, starting with The Nutcracker and the Four Realms on 21 December. The icing on this free Christmas cake is The Australian Ballet's live highlights from The Nutcracker ballet, plus free popcorn and sugarplum fairy floss. You can also see Home Alone (22 December), Edward Scissorhands (23rd) and The Santa Clause (24th). Stick around and enjoy Fed Square's other festive freebies, including the giant LED tree in Christmas Square. FREE SCREENING: THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS Saturday 21 December 2019 5:30pm - 8pm Pack the rugrats - timeless ballet-turned-children's-classic The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is the latest Fed Film, ushering in the Christmas season as the first of four films we'll be showing in December. Plus, we've got a very special treat lined up - to celebrate, not only at the Australian Ballet Company showcasing a short performance from The Nutcracker itself just prior to the film, but we're giving out FREE popcorn and sugarplum fairy floss on the day! As usual, entry is free, and we encourage you to bring something comfy to sit on, and maybe something warm depending on the weather. The film starts at 6:00 pm, but if you wish to see the ballet performance be sure to get there before 5:30 pm. See you there! FREE SCREENING: HOME ALONE Sunday 22 December 2019 6pm - 9pm You know it; you love it - the all-time Christmas classic is coming to Fed Square. We're showing Home Alone - the first one, none of this Donald Trump and pigeons nonsense - on our beautiful big screen, and it's absolutely free. You know the score by now - deckchairs are first-come-first served, so bring something comfy to sit on just in case, and we'll see you there. FREE SCREENING: EDWARD SCISSORHANDS Monday 23 December 2019 6pm - 8pm Yup, it's a Christmas movie. Edward Scissorhands is the 3rd fabulous Fed Film this Christmas, and as usual it's completely free. Relive Johnny Depp's prime and the heyday of Tim Burton with the surprisingly family-friendly dark comedy. There'll be deckchairs in the square, but it's first come first served and we recommend bringing something comfy just in case. See you there! FREE SCREENING: THE SANTA CLAUSE Tuesday 24 December 2019 6pm - 8pm Die Hard. Edward Scissorhands. Home Alone. There are many Christmas movies, but one film rules them all. The Santa Clause is coming to grace your eyeballs on Fed Square's big screen this Christmas Eve, starting from 6pm - plenty of time to digest a family-friendly Christmas classic and get home in time to catch the real Santa in action. Deckchairs are provided, but we recommend bringing something comfy to sit on just in case they all get snapped up. Plus, of course, it's free. See you there!
