Keep Cool at Melbourne Zoo As summer heats up, Melbourne Zoo will be the 'coolest' place to be, with bubbles and water play for both animals and visitors. The special program of events highlights Australia's underwater environment in an adventurous, fun-filled experience. Be immersed in the Zoo's Bubbly Fun Zone, explore the new National Geographic photo exhibition Planet or Plastic? and view impressive large-scale artworks that have been crafted using repurposed plastics. SATURDAY 23 NOVEMBER - SUNDAY 1 MARCH Don't miss this new exhibition featuring more than 70 profound and inspiring images, videos and more that tell the story of the global crisis of marine plastics. Sculpture Exhibit: From Plastic Waste to Art SATURDAY 23 NOVEMBER - SUNDAY 1 MARCH Showcasing imaginative sculptural works inspired by the beauty of our marine environments. Created by artists from all over Australia every sculpture is made from reused and recyclable plastic waste. Roving Performances: Giant Seagulls TUESDAY 7 - SUNDAY 13 JANUARY Presented by Snuff Puppets, a Melbourne based performance company, these unruly Giant Seagulls scavenge and devour everything in their path. Look out! You might lose your hat or have a hot chip stolen as they fight each other for the finest zoo spoils. Performances: Bubble Laboratory MONDAY 15 - MONDAY 27 JANUARY Come and see every bubble trick imaginable in this awesome and funny new show. And discover how bubbles are so much more fun than plastic balloons! Drop in Workshop: Recycled Plastic by Aly De Groot FRIDAY 27 DECEMBER 11am - 1pm Discover new ways on how to reuse plastic to create your own recycled artwork. Water Play SATURDAY 23 NOVEMBER - SUNDAY 1 MARCH Misters will create fun water play and a great way to cool off during warmer days this summer. Melbourne Zoo Up Late WEDNESDAY 1 - TUESDAY 14 JANUARY For two weeks only, the Zoo is staying open until 8pm with evening keeper talks and a series of marine conservation films and seminars on the lawns. Included with Zoo entry Kids under 16 visit free on weekends and school holidays
