Shred It In A Dress 2017

On Sunday September 3rd the Mt Buller community will be coming together to hit the slopes in school dresses for their 5th annual 'Shred In A Dress' fundraiser!

The event, likely to attract over 200 skiers and snowboarders will involve participants hitting the slopes while donning their school dresses to help raise funds for One Girl (www.onegirl.org.au) - an Australian, not-for-profit organisation committed to educating one million girls across Africa.

To help them achieve this impressive and monumental goal, One Girl runs their annual 'Do It In A Dress' fundraising campaign (www.doitinadress.com). This quirky campaign asks supporters to complete challenges in school dresses, raising money amongst their family and friends so that girls in Sierra Leone and Uganda can put on a school dress too. This commitment to fun, inclusive fundraising is key to the One Girl ethos and shows they really live by their manifesto that there's no reason 'changing the world has to be a drag'.

This year, 'Shred In A Dress' is looking to be bigger than ever as the Mt Buller community are on a mission to raise $10,000! While that's enough to put 33 girls through a whole year of schooling, the amount of funds raised won't even be the best part of the day...

This year everyone is welcome to come and join in the fun by buying a dress from the village square before hitting the slopes. You can also come and meet the Shredder's at Kofler's for lunch at noon and nab yourself a $5 hotdog. For a truly special experience we are also opening the slopes with night skiing/snowboarding available from 5pm on Bourke Street. After participants have finished with their fun on the slopes, the event will continue into the night with a party, live music, DJs and prizes at the Kooroora Hotel.

One Girl and Shred It In A Dress understand that educating girls changes everything. Why? Because right now, over 60 million girls around the world are currently denied an education.. and a girl born in Sierra Leone is more likely to be a sexually assaulted than she is to attend high school.

With every year of high school, a girl's income will increase by up to 20%. Through school, she is able to change her life as well as the lives of her family and community. She will also reduce her chance of dying in childbirth, getting married at a young age, succumbing to a preventable disease, having unwanted pregnancies and being the victim of violence.

'Shred It In A Dress' will be held at Mt Buller on Sunday September 3rd with Shredder's hitting the slopes all day long!
