S5000The S5000 race will be taking place at Sandown across Friday 20th, Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd September. Full race schedule can be found here. Unlike the S5000's motorsport peers - the category will deliver all the excitement and experience we'd expect from an F1 race - but without the price tag. Tickets are just $30 for the day or $45 for a weekend pass - with kids under 16 free, it's a budget friendly way to entertain the family outdoors this weekend! The S5000 will bring star names from the world of motorsport to the event, including: - Formula 1 star Rubens Barichello - Aussie-American third generation racing driver Matthew Brabham (grandson of three-time Formula 1 World Champion, Sir Jack Brabham) - Aussie Alex Davison of the Davison motorsport dynasty The S5000 car has been designed and developed in Australia with the Australian Racing Group (ARG), and the race will bring a new category of F1-style motorsport to the world stage. Positioned as the premier open wheel class in the Australasian region, the S5000 Series will hit Australian motor sport circuits in 2019. Boasting a brand-new FIA-approved chassis, a powerful and cost-effective five-litre V8 engine and an all-Australian transmission system, S5000 is a bold, contemporary and modern class aimed at introducing young and aspiring drivers, as well as experienced professionals, to first-class open wheel racing. The S5000 car, based on the French-designed Onroak-Ligier carbon-fibre chassis, has been designed with strength, safety and economy cost as priorities. As such, most components are single, specified, control parts - including the Ligier safety cell (including front/rear/side crash structures). In the power department, the S5000 car come with a sealed 560hp 5-litre V8 engine, Holinger gearbox/transaxle, control wheels/tyres/suspension and electronics. The car carries full 2018 FIA safety certification.
