Rain Room at Jackalope Pavilion
Having captivated over half a million patrons worldwide Random International's monumental artwork Rain Room will make its Southern Hemisphere debut in Melbourne.
A 100 square metre field of continuous rainfall Rain Room is a responsive environment engaging all the senses allowing you to be fully immersed in the rain while simultaneously protected from it.
A globally significant work Rain Room seeks to explore how human relationships to each other and nature are increasingly mediated through technology.
WHAT IS RAIN ROOM?
A 100 square metre field of continuous rainfall, Rain Room is a responsive environment engaging all the senses; millions of water droplets respond to your presence by ceasing to fall wherever movement is detected, allowing you to be fully immersed in the rain while simultaneously protected from it.
Rain Room will be open 7-days a week. Opening times - Sunday to Wednesday 10am - 6pm, Thursday to Saturday 10am - 9pm.
Sessions will run in 20-minute intervals.
HOW DO I GET THERE?
The No. 16 Tram runs from the Melbourne's CBD to St Kilda, with several stops located along Fitzroy Street. If driving, parking is available at The Prince of Wales carpark and can be booked online at the time of ticket purchase. Limited street parking is also available along Acland and Fitzroy Streets.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your reservation to ensure you have adequate time to park and store your belongings in provided lockers, etc. prior to your session commencing.
Should you miss your scheduled time, we will endeavour to accommodate you if a subsequent spot is available. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee a rescheduled visit. Please note that there are no refunds.
To reduce the possibility of getting wet, visitors are advised to progress slowly and sensibly through the Rain Room. Should you move too quickly, you may catch the drops of rain that have already fallen ahead of you.
