* Pope Joan Pop-Up *
Matt Wilkinson will be resurrecting Pope Joan for a pop-up in the CBD from early February until April 2019. When it was announced in early 2018 that Pope Joan would be closing its doors for good there were many stomachs growling. But here we are, just six months after it shut up shop and we have some very good news.
Pope Joan Is Set To Be ResurrectedBy Ben Tyers | theurbanlist.com For fans of Pope Joan's award-winning sandwiches, you're in luck. The Cornish, The Cuban, The Reuben, and The Pope Joan will all be available on the menu. Two new creations will join them. The Turkish Delight, which features harissa, carrot, hummus, and grains, and The Club Salad, with salad, whipped cheese, and optional Mr Cannubi mortadella. The Pope Joan pop-up will be open from 7am until 7pm, so expect breakfast options aplenty as well. Dig into granola, rice pudding, as well as boiled eggs with soldiers, and options like fried eggs, hummus, and pickled red kraut. A mouthful. For lunch and dinner, you can feast on sardines on toast, oysters, local mussels, hanger steak, along with many more options. 'Ever since we closed Pope Joan in Brunswick East, I've been missing cooking (and eating) the food. In my mind, it didn't feel like that chapter had fully closed,' says Wilkinson. The pop-up will occupy the space left by the recently closed The Mayfair.
