North Rotunda | Melbourne Cityscapes Exhibition
Enjoy a selection of the Library's 21st-century paintings of Melbourne cityscapes by living Australian artists.
Works include depictions of Melbourne's hallowed sporting grounds, with MCG, Josie Kunoth Petyarre's view of the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, the home of Australian Rules Football, and Shane Jones's Flemington Racecourse, showing the birthplace of the internationally renowned Melbourne Cup horserace.
Rick Amor's work shows some less familiar perspectives, with distant views of the city from remote hills and from the Yarra River and docklands, and across rooftops in Across the city.
Tony Lloyd's Skystone, William Mackinnon's Exit and Louise Forthun's Toffee and ice present abstracted views of urban sites and landmarks and provoke reflection on our interaction with the built environment.
