The 2019 Melbourne Spoken Word & Poetry Festival features 18 days of spoken word performances, poetry readings, open mics, poetry slams, workshops in venues all over Melbourne.
Featuring local and internationally acclaimed spoken word artists and poets, including Luka Lesson, Mic Ting (Individual World Poetry Slam Champ), Arielle Cottingham, wani, Tenda McFly, Eleanor Jackson, Bill Moran (USA), Steph Dogfoot (Singapore), Scott Wings, Fleassy Malay, and Melizarani T. Selva (Malaysia)
Events are both ticketed and free events, and full of events where you can sign up to the open mic.
Spoken word is one of fastest growing art forms in Melbourne at the moment with a thriving scene bursting with talent and vulnerability.

Opening night features a special line-up including one of Australia's highest-calibre spoken word artists, Luka Lesson, plus Singapore's Stephanie Dogfoot Chan; former Australia Poetry Slam Champ, Arielle Cottingham; Stella Prize Vice-Chair and author of 'A Leaving' (Vagabond Press), Eleanor Jackson; selected in five of the last six Best Australian Poems, Andy Jackson; Melbourne Spoken Word Prize winner, Natalie Jeffreys and up & coming poet and Slamlamadingdong Grand-Slam runner-up (by 0.1 of a point!), Zaynab G Farah.
