Mozart Piano Concerto No.17 in G Major with Elyane Laussade
Friday March 15 at 7.30pm - James Tatoulis Auditorium, Kew
Mozart Piano Concerto No.17 in G major
with Elyane Laussade
Acclaimed pianist Elyane Laussade has embarked on the Mozart Project in which she intends to play all of Mozart's piano concertos.
This is the first of three in which she will be accompanied by the Melbourne Musicians directed by Frank U. Pam.
She will play Mozart's Piano Concerto No.17 in G major, K.453, composed for one of his favourite pupils, Barbara Ployer.
It is an exceptionally beautiful work and the finale is a witty set of variations on a perky tune which Mozart claimed to have learnt from his pet starling (or perhaps he taught it to the starling).
The concert includes one of Haydn's Paris symphonies, No.83 in G minor, "La Poule" (The Hen) and the premiere of a recently discovered symphony by Dittersdorf, written in 1791, the year of Mozart's death.
Mozart, Haydn and Dittersdorf were good friends who played string quartets together.
