He was never content to mark time, always ready to turn his hand to new challenges and he left his mark on the nation in many places. Harold worked as a fine artist, an illustrator, printmaker, designer and muralist, all the while drawing on a deep well of traditional training and a determination to bring art and the creative spirit to the widest possible audience. He was a democrat at heart, seeing art as being for the people, the man and the woman in the street who had the right to live in a community where they could see and experience art on a daily basis.
