Melbourne Aikijujutsu Club

The Melbourne Aikijujutsu Club is a non-profit group training in Butoku Ryu Aikijujutsu.

Butoku Ryu has compact techniques characterised by the balance between extensor movements derived from sword techniques - prevalent in arts like Aikido/Aiki-Jutsu, and flexor movements, common in grappling arts like Judo or Ju-Jutsu.

The style was established by Tanaka Shigeho's student Fujimori Akira, who has had more than 50 years of intense training and study in Jujutsu, Aikido, Judo, Sumo, Kenjutsu and Jojutsu.

The Melbourne club is one of the only 3 schools practising Butoku Ryu outside Japan. Our instructor is Giles Sadler 4th Dan, trained under Sensei Nener (Australasian Head) and Sensei Fujimori. Classes are mixed gender, suitable for all levels of martial arts experience.
