* Matt Harvey - I Got Bit By a Monkey Once *
Matt Harvey Stuff presents I Got Bit by A Monkey Once... Comedy / Stand Up Five true stories: a monkey; a bus trip; a fire; an arrest and a mugging. Melbourne comedian and writer Matt Harvey (Live on Bowen, The Leak, Quiz night) is presenting his show, I Got Bit By A Monkey Once at The Tickle Pit, as part of Melbourne International Comedy Festival. After sell-out shows at the 2018 Melbourne Fringe Festival, 2019 Fringe World (Perth), and Adelaide Fringe, Matt is bringing this storytelling sensation of personal events to the wider world. A seasoned story-teller, Matt takes his audience on a journey that includes five fantastic true stories, that come together as an exploration of stupid choices and hard consequences - if you enjoy feeling better about yourself through schadenfreude, then this is the show for you. Like 'Eat, Pray, Love' - if nobody learned anything, and all the 'eat' parts happened at McDonald's, this is a show to be taken aurally. "... the commentary was so easily strung together with good humour..." - Squirrel Comedy "We left laughing, and also wiser about our place in the world." - The Plus Ones "... a great example of a comedian managing to make light of particularly troublesome issues, while still carrying the depth of them as to make the viewer aware." - Pop Culture-y About Matt Harvey: With a diverse theatrical background, having performed Shakespeare, as a musical pirate, a puppeteer and a range of physical theatre role, it wasn't until a director told him "You're really suited to comedy" (the play was not a comedy) that Matt found his fit. Having toured Australia for many years, writing and creating original shows full of whimsical and witty observations, Matt has developed a unique story-telling ability, where he draws from the unreliability of his memory to engage and connect with audiences from all walks of life. Venue: The Tickle Pit at Rozzi's, 157 Swanston Street, Melbourne Dates: April 9-20 (no show Sat 13 April) Time: 6:00pm Tickets: $20.30 Full, $15.30 Concession, Group and Tightarse Tuesday. Bookings: via Melbourne International Comedy Festival website
