SOVEREIGN HILL CELEBRATES THE YEAR OF THE RAT
Witness the excitement and exhilaration of an authentic Lunar New Year celebration, as Sovereign Hill welcomes in the Year of the Rat.
Over two Sundays (Sunday 26 January and Sunday 2 February), the outdoor museum, together with the Chinese Australian Cultural Society Ballarat, will be awash with celebrations, as visitors have the opportunity to watch, participate and learn about Chinese culture and the experiences of Chinese miners during Ballarat's goldrush.
Witness the spectacular Chinese Dragon and Chinese Lions as they weave their way up Sovereign Hill's Main Street for the annual Chinese New Year parade, learn about the significance of the Chinese Year of the Rat, and be enthralled by colourful performances of ribbon dancing, Tai Chi, and other traditional forms of Chinese entertainment.
