Visit Melbourne Museum across the festivity period to experience Chinese New Year Melbourne Festival 2019.
Inspiring fortune and luck for the New Year, join us at two of our special events to experience Year of the Pig iconic celebrations. Saturday 9 February, 11am until 4pm, and Sunday 17 February, 6pm until 8.30pm, at Melbourne Museum Plaza.
Melbourne Museum will be hosting a family day on Saturday, February 9 where you can try out a bunch of hands-on activities (like lantern-making, calligraphy and paper-cutting) as well as enjoy cultural performances from local and international artists.
The festival's Closing Ceremony is at Melbourne Museum on Sunday February 17 at 6pm. There will be a lantern parade, fire dragons, glowing lions and a closing ceremony dance where kids and their families are invited to dance with the performers and learn the traditional routines.
Partnering with Chinese New Year United these family friendly events will be staged across the festivity period. Chinese New Year United is a non-profit community cultural association, with focus in promoting Chinese heritage and culture.
