Founded in 1952 the Jayco Herald Sun Tour is Australia's oldest cycling stage race.

The race is owned and backed by the Herald Sun newspaper Australia's largest daily and part of the global NewsCorp. The Tour is a UCI sanctioned 2.1 and is a major professional teams-based event which includes some of the best cyclists from Australia and all over the world.

The event provides a platform for upcoming Australian riders to race against the world's best.

For over sixty years the 'Sun Tour' has captured the attention of sports fans throughout Victoria. Riders from around the world compete in the Tour with past winners including Tour de France champions Chris Froome and Bradley Wiggins Tour de France sprint champion Baden Cooke Tour de France stage winners Simon Gerrans and Neil Stephens and many international riders who dominated the event in the 1990's.
