Fashion Parade Fundraiser for Scleroderma Victoria
|More Than Skin Deep - Fashion Parade 2017 |
SUNDAY 22 OCTOBER 2017
Both Essendon Captain Dyson Heppell and Paralympian Don Elgin will tear up the catwalk to raise funds for Scleroderma on October 22nd, 2017 at the Collingwood Town Hall.
Scleroderma Victoria will hold its inaugural 'More Than Skin Deep' Fashion Parade which will feature fashion from Australian Iconic Designer, Liz Davenport and Melbourne's premier men's clothing store, Menzclub.
Dyson Heppell is an Ambassador for Scleroderma Victoria and states:
'I'm a bit apprehensive about getting up on the catwalk for the first time, but it'll all be good fun, lots of laughs and raising money for a good cause. My family has been directly affected by it, so it is a cause close to my heart having my Oma battle through the disease that ultimately led to her passing away'.
Don Elgin is a Paralympic amputee athlete who represented Australia in athletics at four World Championships, three Paralympic Games and two World Cups before retiring in 2008. Not one to shy away from a challenge, Don came out of retirement and made a successful comeback to compete in the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Don won four medals at three Paralympics.
He says:'I was approached by an associate at Scleroderma Victoria to be part of this event and model and I was more than happy to help. Scleroderma can manifest itself in many ways, including the loss of limbs, so it is something that I can directly relate to and more than happy to help raise money for.'
Apart from the dazzling fashion and models!! The event will see guests enjoy a sumptuous High Tea along with lots of laughter and fun.
What is Scleroderma?
Scleroderma is an auto-immune disease that affects all parts of the body. No part of the body is safe. In short, the body attacks itself and no-one knows why.
It currently has no cure and ultimately limits life expectancy, sometimes dramatically. There is no age range to the disease and 3 out of 4 sufferers are female. Once again, no-one knows why.
Scleroderma Victoria aims to change that!!
