Chinese New Year at The Valley
|Welcome in the Year of the Dog with a night of vibrant Chinese culture and racing at The Valley.|
The Valley will be abuzz with traditional artistic acts including traditional dragon and lion dancers, an endless array of Chinese cuisine, a dedicated Melbourne City FC kid's zone and even a FREE rice giveaway! Make sure you save the date and bring the whole family along to this not-to-be-missed cultural festival.
Joining forces with the Australian Chinese Jockey Club (ACJC) the following will be on offer -
Cultural Entertainment -
Like nothing you've seen before! The performance stage will be abuzz with live traditional acts amazing the crowd. There will be everything from fire twirlers and contortionists, to dragon and lion dancers that are not to be missed! We'll have roaming performers around the racetrack as well so you can't help but get caught up in the Chinese New Year spirit. Grab your spot near the stage and be captivated.
Feast of Asian Cuisine -
Enjoy the finest of Chinese cuisine from the large array of food trucks and stalls on the main lawn - bringing a night market feel to the racetrack!
A chance to win your way to China -
Fill in your entry card and you could win two return Business Class tickets from Melbourne to Qingdao, thanks to Beijing Capital Airlines. Second prize is a Mitchelton winery experience.
Melbourne City Soccer Clinic -
The kids will just love the Melbourne City Fan Zone with jumping castles, soccer clinic and giveaways located on the North Hill.
The giving of Rice -
Seen as an auspicious blessing for the Chinese New Year, we will be giving away FREE 1 kilogram bags of rice - but be quick they won't last long!
Mandarin race call live on-course -
Jamie Pi will be back to broadcast one race for the evening to on-course patrons in Mandarin.
Guide Dogs Victoria - Year Of The Dog -
To celebrate the Year of the Dog, Guide Dogs Victoria will be bringing their 'Puppy Playpen' to the North Hill with six of their furry friends.

The eighth running of the Group 3 Typhoon Tracy Stakes named in honour of the 2009-2010 Australian Racehorse of the Year.
Yum Cha, Sharing Good Luck & Prosperity -
This Chinese art exhibition embodies the communal celebration and the coming together in connection with others - located in the Octagonal Lounge.

Qi Pao Parade -
A Chinese dress worn for special occasions, Qi Pao is a symbol of timeless beauty and these dresses will be paraded after Race 3 on the main stage.
