Budburst | Macedon Ranges Wine & Food Festival 2017

Join us on the weekend of 18 + 19 November for the Macedon Ranges Wine and Food "Budburst" Festival.

Share in our celebration of Budburst, enjoy wine tastings, cellar door sales, regional food and entertainment. Book a bus, stay the weekend, take a journey of discovery, off the beaten track, into the maze of laneways that wind laconically around the Macedon Ranges.

Hidden away in the natural landscape you will discover small and diverse wineries and vineyards. The region is cool to cold by world standards. As a result the region offers wine that is limited in quantity and exceptionally high in quality. They grow outstanding grapes to make outstanding wine that can often only be sourced at the cellar door.

The region’s bucolic laneways wind gently between old roads that link the region’s villages, and alongside freeways and highways so you can make an easy escape from the modern-day rush to take a taste of the good life.

Let the love of a hearty Shiraz tempt you to the north of the region where the sun warms the grapes in the granite landscapes.

The hunt for world-class Pinot Noir, the most highly-prized wine of all, will lead you on an idyllic tour through the lovingly planted cool-climate vineyards from Lancefield to Musk, discovering award-winning wines.

If you are looking for Sparkling, the little laneways lead you to big celebrations when you discover the traditionally hand-made small-batch bubbles at family-run vineyards.

Try full-bodied Chardonnays at the warmer sites in the lower altitude and more northerly parts of the region.

Enjoy the quest for unexpected and exceptional biodynamic and organic wine varieties tucked away off the path between towns and experience aromatics that rival the great vineyards of Europe across the region and up on the mountain.

Beyond Hanging Rock, Mount Macedon and the natural history, the vineyards and wineries are home to welcoming families who look forward to visitors. Their cellar doors are extensions to their sheds, rustic corrugated iron and well-worn timbers. The best cool-climate wine in Australia can be found behind unassuming farm gates and under century year old trees. The Macedon Ranges is on the road less travelled and yet still less than an hour from Melbourne. You will find lots to surprise you around the secret laneways – the beating heart of the region.

There will be live entertainment, country hospitality, wine tastings, dinners, lunches and so much more! Each venue is open between 10am and 5pm on both days of the festival.

You can buy your $20 tasting glass/pass online. Or you can buy a pass for $25 on the day at the first venue you visit.
