Wellington Folk Festival, NZ. www.bohemiannights.com.au Violinist Ernie Gruner and Accordionist/Singer Phil Carroll play Gypsy, Klezmer, Middle-Eastern, French, Italian, Russian, jazz and tango music which ranges from soulful to wild. In 2014 they toured New Zealand for the 7th time, after playing the Australian National Folk Festival again. In 2008 after a tour to West Australia, Phil returned to Istanbul to play and study Turkish and Balkan music, and Ernie travelled to Montreal, Toronto and New York for more klezmer studies. Australian concerts highlights include the National Folk Festival, National Multicultural Festival, Apollo Bay and Albany Festivals. Bohemian Nights 7 NZ tours have included the Wellington International Arts Festival, Wellington and Dunedin Folk Festivals and the Christchurch Jazz Festival. They have a well-reviewed self-titled CD, launched at full-house concerts at the Boite and Fortyfive Downstairs. This is their 10th year playing monthly at Budapest Restaurant in Elsternwick.
