An Evening Under the Stars @ Mt Burnett Observatory
Hey Astrofans! Are you looking for an Astronomy Fix, or perhaps an idea for a special present for someone astro-minded? Look no further!
Visit the Observatory to see what we do, who we are, and, with the help of our friendly Outreach team, do some viewing of the night sky through our telescopes.
Public Viewings cost $15 per adult, $10 concession and child over 5 (children under 5 free). All money raised goes towards the maintenance and preservation of the Observatory.
Please note, if the weather is not good, if the fire danger forecast is severe or above, or a Total Fire Ban is declared, the sessions will be cancelled and you will be able to rebook for a later date. If you have any further questions, just ask by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org!
Please consider the neighbours and drive in and out quietly using low beam only, or better still, parking lights.
Please note: MBO will always be closed on days of Severe, Extreme and Code Red fire ratings, and on days of Total Fire Ban. Please see the CFA website for that information.
Held monthly, then date is dependent on the moon's phases and weather. Dates are announced early each month on the MBO Facebook page
January 2019 Update
We've had an enormous flood of enquiries in the past few days about our Public Viewings, almost more than we can answer.
While we love that you love us so much, we thought it might be important to clarify that all three of our January sessions are booked out. Normally, we just run one session a month, but some of us are actually on holiday and able to help out more over January. (We are all volunteers here).
We will be releasing some dates for February and March this week. So please keep an eye out. We will let you know when the dates come out. And remember, there will be sessions throughout the year.
