Albert Tucker: Making The Past
ALBERT TUCKER MARKING THE PAST
Date: 29 February - 16 August 2020
Location: Albert & Barbara Tucker Gallery
Curator/s: Lili Belle Birchall
Admission: Included with museum admission
After moving to the village Noli on the Italian Riviera in 1952, Albert Tucker began to paint religious scenes inspired by the art of the past.
Biblical narratives provided him with a means to investigate human values and morals and questions around ‘good and evil' - a continuing theme throughout his life's work.
This exhibition presents a selection of Tucker's religious paintings alongside his wounded landscapes, explorers and drawings he made during the war of injured and shell-shocked soldiers.
The intersecting themes across these diverse subjects demonstrate his ongoing interest in the impact of physical, spiritual, and psychological wounds on the human condition.
