No McDonald's in Tecoma

No McDonald's in Tecoma

No McDonald’s in the Dandenong Ranges

A number of groups are currently protesting against the building of a McDonald's in Tecoma.

Groups include:
-:- No Maccas in the Hills Facebook Page
-:- No McDonalds in the Dandenong Ranges Facebook Page
-:- Say No to the Commercialisation of Healesville

In 2011, McDonald’s lodged a planning application for a 24 hour outlet with drive thru in Tecoma. This application was met with a record number of 1,170 written objections directed at local Council by Hills residents.

The numerous objections raised concerns relating to traffic, litter, noise, crime, impact on existing local businesses, locality opposite a Primary and Pre School, proximity within 1 kilometre of a National Park, the development not befitting the character of the Hills, the demolition of the historic Hazel Vale Dairy building which currently resides at the proposed site, local amenity issues and the fact that there are no 24 hour fast food outlets with drive-thru's in the entire Dandenong Ranges.

Burger Off

Burger Off is a community group based in Tecoma, Victoria - part of the beautiful Dandenong Ranges - opposed to the planned McDonalds store.

Tecoma Village Action Group

The Tecoma Village Action Group (TVAG) is one of many Township Groups throughout the Dandenong Ranges working to make their township a better place to live and work.

Tecoma

Tecoma is a peaceful village in the Dandenong Ranges, 40 kilometres east of Melbourne, with a population of 2085 residents. The Dandenong Ranges are where Melbourne’s leafy eastern suburbs meet the mountains and forests.

McDonald's

McDonald's has been undeterred by a recent spate of action by the No Maccas in Tecoma group, including gnomes and chalk graffiti bearing anti-McDonald's slogans popping up in the hills.

The outlet - the first for the hills - will comprise a 56-seat restaurant with a 28-seat outside terrace overlooking the hills, a drive-through and a playland.

VCAT approved the restaurant in October 2012 after Yarra Ranges councillors unanimously rejected it.

support

For people who wish to show their support for keeping McDonalds out of our beautiful hills... The Dandenong Ranges.

SAVE TECOMA! A McDonalds will destroy the very essence of our beautiful hills. We beat them before in Belgrave, now they're back for more.
Get involved & help defend our community!

NOTE: Keep discussion civil please, aggressive & inflammatory comments will result in being banned (Thus far only one user has been banned).
