Portmans

Portmans began in the 1950's by the Bloom Family. The family began manufacturing women's fashion and before long, the first retail store opened in Chapel Street, Prahran. The clothing range was positioned as affordable fashion with a low to medium price point, fashion range for women.

During the late 1980's Portmans introduced 'Get the Look' as the advertising positioning statement, an easily recognisable logo and the 'Portmans girl' strategy featuring Alison Brae.

Today Portmans, is one of the leading Women's fashion retailers in Australia. In the year 2000 Portmans have introduced a new look and logo.

Our stores have new signage and many have had a facelift. In the year 2001 we have opened new stores including Riverbank and Burwood.

The Portmans girl is fun, full of energy, confident, knows good value and how to shop! We like to think of her as forever 20! At every age.

For a company with humble beginnings 47 years ago with one store, and a handful of staff, Portmans now boasts over 1000 staff and 87 stores in Australia and New Zealand and is still Australian owned.
