UPDATED : inc Fix Many faces of disbelief at Only Melbourne when the front page suddenly read... NeverEverNoSanity WebWorm... you've been hacked!!! Greeted with 'This site is defaced' is not a pleasant sight [pun!] specially when some sort of generation 16 web worm has been eating the database?

Head tech guru ZiggyD replaced a config file and everything returned to normal, but the message was back this morning? We replaced the same file and everything returned but how long before the little worm returns?

A search of Google for the offending worm returned little to nothing so we will wait and see.. me thinks it's still there!

Yes it has attacked a number of our web sites through a chmod vulnerability.
Good news is you haven't lost anything.

Server support...

Check files permissions : files/directories in your server space that are writable to.

Directories should have maximum permissions of chmod 755 and files should a maximum of 644 or 755 if the file is a cgi script.
Otherwise include files, with sensitive information that should not be available to the public, should be chmoded 600
