Melbourne University Private

Melbourne University Private Ltd. is wholly owned by the University of Melbourne. A public company limited by shares, it is governed by a board of directors chaired by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Melbourne, and appointed by the Council of the University of Melbourne. The private university has five core businesses of Professional Education and Training; Consultancy and Contract Research services; Intellectual Property Management and the Commercialisation of Research; International Development Assistance Project management; and English Language training. Melbourne University Private also has four core academic discipline areas of Telecommunications, Multimedia and IT; Leadership and Management; International Communication and Languages; and Energy and Environment. The four academic disciplines are led by Senior Conjoint Academic staff of the University of Melbourne, who are nominated as Heads of Discipline. The Heads of Discipline remain full time members of the academic community of the University of Melbourne while also assuming leadership roles in the development of Melbourne University Private's academic profile. The retention of roles in both institutions is encouraged in order to ensure synergy of programs and services between Melbourne University Private and the University of Melbourne.
