Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2017

The 2017 Melbourne International Comedy Festival turns 31 celebrating with its biggest festival, with more shows and venues ever, becoming one of the world's largest and most respected comedy festivals.

The Melbourne International Comedy Festival is one of the three largest comedy festivals in the world, alongside Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Montreal’s Just for Laughs Festival.

An annual event, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival literally takes over Australia’s comedy capital, Melbourne, each autumn with an enormous program of stand-up comedy, cabaret, theatre, street performance, film, television, radio and visual arts.

Arguably the crown jewel in Melbourne’s entertainment calendar, the festival brings together both local and international performers for over 3 weeks of comedy, music, sly social commentary and most importantly of all… laughs!

The Melbourne International Comedy Festival will celebrate its 31st year in 2017 and is one of the three largest comedy festivals in the world, alongside Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Montreal's Just for Laughs Festival.

March and April in Melbourne. It's the time of year when Melburnians stay in the city after work more than usual, when our interstate and international friends join us and the streets seem to have some magic power underfoot because all the people you pass have a mischievous grin plastered across their faces.

There are many reasons to visit Melbourne during one of the biggest comedy festivals in the world. You'll enjoy a wonderful array of choice with over 525 shows, ticket prices averaging at $28 and free family entertainment at Federation Square and City Square. To complete your escape there's Melbourne's infamous fashion, coffee and art scene and easy day trips to sumptuous wineries and playful beaches. You're sure to leave with a belly full of laughs. Pretty much the best holiday ever!
