Australian Heritage Week 2017

Explore 100’s of festival events!
18 April to 21 May 2017

The Australian Heritage Festival is supported through funding from the Australian Government’s National Trusts Partnership Program

The National Trust and thousands of Australian Heritage Festival event organisers and volunteers across the country invite you to over 1,100 events celebrating our fantastic heritage, history and culture.

For the next four weeks come join Australia’s largest grass roots heritage festival and many thousands of visitors and show your support for cultural and historic assets from around the country.

Whether you want to discover more about the cultural and indigenous history on your doorstep, across your state or across the country, or hear many inspiring personal stories that make up our Australian heritage, there’s something on the program for everyone to enjoy.

Check out our Festival Spotlights where each week we will highlight some of the best events happening across the country.

Having a Voice

The 2017 Australian Heritage Festival theme is Having a Voice and we invite communities across Victoria to tell their stories through different voices, recognising the many narratives that have shaped Victoria.

When has your community joined together to be heard?
What voices deserve to be commemorated in your town?
What stories are shared across cultural groups in your community?
How do you celebrate the voices that have shaped your area?
What sounds are unique to your region?
Does your community celebrate its heritage via song?

Our shared heritage is rich with voices from many cultures – Having a Voice is about taking time to stop and listen to stories from every corner of our society.
